LAHORE: Pakistan’s Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem revealed his plans for the forthcoming year 2025, as the javelin thrower was seen training on Friday here at the Punjab Stadium, under the supervision of his coach, Salman Iqbal Butt.

Speaking on the sidelines of his training session, Arshad put weight on achieving new milestones in 2025, after winning a gold medal in the Paris Olympics 2024.

“Like 2024, I aim to secure more titles in 2025. I’ve already resumed training after a four-month break, focusing on fitness to ensure I’m fully prepared for the upcoming challenges,” Arshad stated.

“A comprehensive training schedule has been developed, and I am following it rigorously. My focus right now is on fitness, and I will soon begin full-fledged practice sessions,” he added.

The 27-year-old shed light on the events lined up for him in the forthcoming year, including the Asian Athletics Championship, Diamond League, and the World Athletics Championship.

“I’m preparing thoroughly for these competitions. My goal is not just to participate but to excel and bring glory to Pakistan,” he said.

Reflecting on his Olympic triumph, Arshad credited his hard work and the prayers of the nation for his success.

“I had vowed to give my best, and with the support of the people and my dedication, I not only succeeded but also set an Olympic record. Now, I aim to set a new world record, and I am confident I will achieve it,” he reiterated.

Meanwhile, coach Salman Iqbal Butt shared insights on the training plan of the javelin thrower.

“We are focusing on conditioning and strengthening muscles to prepare Arshad’s body for the rigorous practice ahead. After this phase, we will shift to javelin throw-specific training to refine his skills further,” he said.

It must be noted here that the Pakistani gold medallist registered an Olympic record-breaking throw to achieve the first gold for his country in individual sports.
